- Remain IC. You were accepted exactly due to your ability to portray their character as they are generally presented, and we must insist that you remain "in character" for any post made in the main community. There are no exceptions to this rule. If you do not like the way your character has evolved while in the game, we do understand the need to "retcon" a character completely, but ask that you speak with the mods beforehand. Generally speaking, we do not approve of character resets unless there is a very good reason (unless you drop and reapp at a later date, then this is A-OK by us!). If there are any concerns regarding your portrayal of a character, you will be talked to and/or eventually removed from the game if the situation warrants it. You are warned. If there are any issues regarding being IC, we ask that the players in question be contacted first by those with an issue in attempts to resolve the problem at hand for both parties, whether through email or - No god-moding. What's god-moding? Being able to pull the perfect solution for any given problem straight from your butt. "Oh no, all the characters are to be trapped on a raft for three days!" "Oh ho ho, not my character! She can swim back, avoiding all the crocodiles and tentacle monsters just like that." "This dude is all powerful, so no matter who he fights in camp, he'll always win!" "Blah blah I'm going to annoy everyone with how strong/awesome/perfect etc. my character is~! She even has the power to control other characters without their players' express permission!" No. No. Bad monkey. >:( Your actions will probably make some higher force kill kittens in frustration. Please avoid this. - There is no sex allowed. None at all. It is against the rules ICly, and we ask that players use common sense when dealing with this (e.g. do not orgasm onscreen, be decent, etc). If you think it's going too far? It probably is. Save it for the AUs. - Given the nature of camp, certain things are banned for the sake of character development and something for characters to whine about in posts. While it is no longer banned, alcohol usage does have its own stipulations, which are detailed here. We operate on a zero-tolerance policy in regards to abuse of this, much like the sex rule. Abuse equals a strike. - Respect your fellow players. If you have a problem with another player, please take it outside of the community by e-mailing, IMing, or PMing the player to discuss your problems. If there is still a problem, drop a line to all five of the mods (bizgotballs at gmail.com, robert.haydn at gmail.com, erynechan at gmail.com, silver.duelist at gmail.com, and omgitsyuusuke at gmail.com). - We work on a two strike system. If you are issued two strikes, we will be forced to remove you from the game. After a year, you have the option of appealing the ban. Please note that we reserve the right to refuse the repeal of any bans. - You must post at least once a month or comment occasionally (about 40 comments a month), or you will risk having your character idle out. We also only allow hiatuses of one month. After a month, the characters will be idled out and removed from the lists. Please contact the moderators if there are any extenuating circumstances before the end of the first month or before the removal of the character from the character list. If you are on the character lists, then you have not been idled. You are responsible for your activity! Be active! We're not asking for a lot of activity, but be warned that you run the risk of being idled if your characters appear to be inactive. Again, if there are any issues that are resulting in relative inactivity, please contact us so we can sort it out. As long as we know you want to keep playing, we'll be happy to work with you to the best of our abilities. As a side note, we are not stringent with these activity requirements. Please play your characters and understand that if you are inactive for over a month, you risk being removed at our discretion. However, we will not idle anyone upon request if they have not been inactive! Please do not ask us to do so. - This should go without saying, but we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to plagiarism in applications. If we find that you have lifted from another app or any other work, your app will be weeded/removed immediately. - Along a similar vein, please do not try to sway voters via e-mail, private message, or instant message; drop anonymous comments in the voting post if the voter is giving out constructive criticism. If we receive any complaints about this, your app will be removed immediately. - When responding to voting posts and/or beta posts, please keep "in-voice" comments to a minimum until you have a character. A few are fine -- everyone likes to play around! Even very clearly OOC joking around is kosher. However, thread-stretching with in-voice comments -- particularly with other anons -- is Not Cool when you do not even have the character yet. A lot of OOC joking around is also kosher, but please keep in mind that the voter is to judge based on the strength of your application, not your anonymous comments in any post. - Current players applying for second, third, or more characters are not allowed to vote on their own applications. (if this is your first app, feel free to skim) - There is no limit on the number of characters that can be played by one person. No permission is required for the first four characters. If you wish to apply for a fifth character, you must receive approval from all five mods before submitting your application by e-mailing all four at the e-mails listed above. E-mail us for approval at least 48 hours before apps open. Please note: sometimes, we do get busy, so three out of five mods approving will suffice. We would prefer more mods approve, but life happens. If you have the approval of the majority and one or two haven't responded, you're good to go. Biz apologizes in advance. If you apply for a sixth character or more, the mods will require evidence of recent activity from all of your existing characters. When e-mailing to ask for approval for a sixth+, please list the characters you play, followed by a list of links to threads for each character that show you have been active with all of your characters. ETA 9/25/07: The official standard for approval, per character, is ABOUT forty comments per month in the community. If you can provide links to multiple threads from the last month that hit in the ballpark of 40 or above comments when they're added up - for each character you play - you will be approved. We may also make judgment calls for ONE "backburner-type" character, but we greatly prefer you hit the standard for all of them. Please provide evidence of ongoing activity! We will smack you SO HARD if you send us two threads with the same character and call that "active." However, one massive thread with several people is fine. You do not need to link every single thread your character has done in the past month - only 40 comments - but do try to show ongoing activity. You are NOT required to actually provide a comment count with each thread (ie thread - 21 comments) when submitting activity. However, the moderators request that should you have the time to do so, they would greatly appreciate it and love you forever if you did and so on and so forth. Permission for five+ does not carry over from round to round. If you ask for permission and then do not get the character for whatever reason (voted out, did not apply, etc), then you must ask again the following round, complete with links. You may reuse links as long as they are still from the last month as of the date you e-mail us. It goes without saying that the mods trust you to KNOW YOUR LIMIT . Before you apply to be that adorable ice-skating sports shounen-ai manga character that doesn't have much room for a lot of future fun, think it over. After five characters, you will not be allowed to apply for a character the next apping round. Any player with five characters or more must wait until after one round to apply again. Dropping a character after apping a fifth does exclude you from this, but don't be a douchebag about it. It should also go without saying that we expect you to actually play your new character before allowing you to app another one. - Be sure to read the voting/apping FAQ for all voting/apping related... stuff. It's a bit outdated, but the advice still holds true. Remember that when voting, you cannot vote on your own app, and each player is only allowed to have one vote. |
